Jürgen Richter
I am a Cartoonist, Character Animator and Director.
At the beginning of my career, besides working on projects for German and Austrian TV networks, I animated for the Feature Films "Harold and the Ghosts" and "Peter in Magicland".
Later I relocated to London and filled the position of Senior Animator in Steven Spielberg’s animation studio Amblimation, the predecessor of today’s DreamWorks Animation.
During the five years in London, I contributed to "American Tail II - Fievel Goes West", "We’re Back! – A Dinosaurs Story" and "Balto" under the direction of Phil Nibbelink and Simon Wells.
At Munich Animation I co-directed the feature film "The Fearless Four with Eberhard Junkersdorf and Michael Coldewey. Distributed by Warner Bros., it was released worldwide as Europe’s first movie to combine classical animation with 3D elements.
For the following projects "Tobias Totz and his Lion" and "Help! I’m a Fish"
I was responsible as sequence director.
In addition to directing numerous 2D and 3D commercials I co-developed several feature film projects additionally to the TV adaption of "Lilly the Witch", for which I also directed the first two episodes.
At animoto I directed commercials for Danone, Procter & Gamble, Frosch and Nestlé, worked on TV movies like "Elvis und der Mann mit dem roten Mantel" for ZDF and co-directed "Flipper and Lopaka – The Movie".
As Creative / Animation supervisor, I was in charge of the German part in A. Film’s "Asterix and The Vikings" and "The Ugly Duckling and Me".
For Constantin Film’s "Tarzan 3D" directed by Reinhard Klooss, I was Storyboard - and Animation Supervisor and also as Animation Supervisor, I was responsible for the animation of the raven character Abraxas in the Feature Film "Die kleine Hexe".
For "Pets United", directed by Reinhard Klooss, I supervised Animation and Compositing for 18 months in Germany and several locations in China.
